Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

Linemates Ty Rattie and Sven Bartschi continue their torrid play, as they combined for seven points in Saturday's 7-1 win over Seattle.

Rattie has already tied his career-high and is tied for first in the WHL with 28 goals this season, and ranks third overall in league scoring with 55 points. Bartschi leads all players with 37 assists and is tied for fourth in league scoring with 49 points in just 21 games, a 2.3 point per game average that also leads the league.

Not to be overshadowed, first round Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick Joe Morrow is in the midst of his own hot streak. The defenseman has a goal in six of the last seven games, and 11 points overall in that span, and has moved up to fourth overall in league scoring among defensemen with 26 points this season. He's doing much of his damage on the power play, where he's scored five of his nine goals, and posted 14 assists.

While the Hawks are filling the net on offense, Mac Carruth is forming a wall at the other end. He's allowed one goal in each of the last two games, and made 40+ saves in three of his last five games. Carruth is tied for the league lead with 18 wins.

Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:

After Saturday's Teddy Bear Toss brought over 10,000 bears onto the ice at the Rose Garden, the players will make deliveries to local hospitals next week after they return from the road trip. Details of those visits will be announced later this week.
