Week in Review:

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011 at Victoria Royals - 4-3 Win

The Kamloops Blazers made their first trip to Victoria since January 30, 1994 and won 4-3. Chase Schaber and Jamie Crooks scored the game's first five goals. Schaber recorded his first hat trick in two seasons to give the Blazers a 3-2 lead. JC Lipon extended the lead to 4-2, but the Royals scored a late goal to make it 4-3. It wasn't enough though as the Blazers won the game. Brendan Ranford finished with a career high 4 assists in the game. Cole Cheveldave made 26 saves and Keith Hamilton stopped 26 shots for the Royals. The Blazers were 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. Full Recap and Highlights.

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 at Victoria Royals - 6-5 Win

It was a wild game in Victoria as the Blazers took down the Royals in overtime. The Blazers were solid early on as Colin Smith opened the scoring and Matt Needham followed Smith up to give the Blazers a 2-0 lead. A disallowed goal changed the Blazers' fortunes with the Royals cutting the lead to 2-1. The Royals came back in this one and sent the game to overtime. Chase Schaber scored the overtime winner on a power play to give the Blazers a 6-5 win. The Blazers had six different players score goals. Cole Cheveldave earned the win for the second consecutive night. Full Recap and Highlights.

Friday, December 2nd, 2011 vs. Prince George Cougars - 5-4 Win

The Blazers again got goals from five different players in a 5-4 home ice win on Friday night. Tim Bozon opened the scoring which flooded the ice with Teddy Bears. The Cougars replied, but Chase Souto scored for the second straight night to make it 2-1 Blazers. The Cougars tied the game up twice more, but goals from Tyler Bell, who scored his first WHL goal, and Brendan Ranford in the third period gave the Blazers the win. Cam Lanigan was in goal for the Blazers making 25 saves. The Blazers were 2-for-4 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill. Full Recap and Highlights.

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 vs. Victoria Royals - 4-2 Win

The Blazers were playing the Royals for the fourth time in nine nights and won for the fourth time with a 4-2 victory. Dylan Willick scored first for the Blazers and JC Lipon followed that up with a goal of his own only 13 seconds later. The Blazers held a 2-0 lead after the first period. The Royals tied the game up in the second period, but the Blazers were solid in the third period. Ryan Hanes and Matt Needham each scored goals to send the Blazers to a 4-2 home ice win, their sixth consecutive victory. Cole Cheveldave beat the Royals for the fourth time in nine days with his fifth consecutive win in goal. Full Recap and Highlights.

Teddy Bear Handout

The Kamloops Blazers collected 2,380 teddy bears along with 700 toques, scarves and mitts from Friday night's 5-4 win over the Prince George Cougars. The collection will be distributed to different local organizations including the Royal Inland Hospital. On Monday, December 5th, Kamloops Blazers players will be at Royal Inland Hospital in the evening at 6:00pm to help distribute teddy bears.

November Stache Bash

The Kamloops Blazers hockey club grew moustaches throughout the month of November to support Men's Cancer. The hockey club raised over $3,650 through the online website and at home games. To watch a video of the shave-off, follow this link.

20 Victories, Six in a Row, 1st Place in the B.C. Division

The Kamloops Blazers have played well in the 2011-12 season. The hockey club is currently riding a six-game winning streak and has a record of 20-7-1-0. The Blazers won all four games this past week and have improved to 17-3-1-0 against Western Conference opponents this season.

The Blazers are the second team in the WHL to have hit the 20-win plateau. They just finished playing six games in the past nine nights and won all six games. The Blazers continue to lead the B.C. Division, sitting one point ahead of the Vancouver Giants with three games in hand.

Caron Moved

Following Tuesday night's game, the Blazers sent 20-year-old defenseman Josh Caron to the Everett Silvertips in exchange for a 4th round Bantam Draft Pick. The move will allow 17-year-old defensemen Brady Gaudet, Tyler Bell and Landon Cross to be in the line-up on a more consistent basis.

A Busy Week Ahead

The Kamloops Blazers will play their final home game before the Christmas break this Wednesday, December 7th when they host the Everett Silvertips. The Blazers will be hosting 'Food Bank Night' with donations being accepted at the front doors. Wednesday is also Rain Check night. Bring in any unused tickets from the first half of the season to the box office and redeem the unused tickets for a ticket to the game on Wednesday night.

The Blazers will then head to Saskatchewan and Manitoba for a 6-game road trip to conclude the first half of the season. The hockey club will start the trip with games in Swift Current on Saturday night and in Regina on Sunday night.

Kamloops Blazers Christmas Store Hours

The Kamloops Blazers Store will have special hours for the Christmas break. The store will be open on December 14th - 16th from 12:00pm - 4:00pm. The store will also be open on December 19th - 22nd from 12:00pm - 4:00pm.
