Portland Pirates Welcome Whitneigh Kinne as New Digital Marketing and Media Relations Coordinator

Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced the hiring of Whitneigh Kinne as the team's new Digital Marketing and Media Relations Coordinator.

A 2014 graduate of the University of Maine and native of North Yarmouth, Kinne joins the Pirates after serving as a Broadcast Producer and Digital Media Editor for WCSH-TV in Portland.

Kinne's main responsibilities will include maintenance and content creation for the team's website and social media channels, as well as serving as the club's main contact for members of the media.

"We are excited and honored to have Whitneigh Kinne join our communications staff," says Portland Pirates COO Brad Church. Whitneigh brings a wealth of both communications and hockey knowledge to our office. The body of work she has been able to produce as a young professional in a wide range of fields made her a candidate that stood out."

"I'm honored to be joining the Portland Pirates and be part of an organization that appreciates both the history of the team and the potential it has, says Kinne. "I am fully aware of what this program means to the city, the AHL, and to our fans throughout the state and I look forward to being a part of its future success."

Kinne was an intern in the Pirates Communications Department during the 2013-14 season. She also has served as an NHL Blogger for Sports Illustrated, and an Arena Reporter for US College Hockey Online. While a student at Maine, Kinne served a sports reporter and analyst for WMEB-FM.

The Pirates return home to the Cross Insurance Arena for two games on Black Friday Weekend against the Utica Comets on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m. On Friday night, the Pirates are hosting a new sock drive! Bring a pair of new socks to donate to Friday's game and you'll receive a pair of tickets to a future Pirates home game! All socks will be the Preble Street Resource Center. Saturday night's game is the Pirates' Annual Teddy Bear Toss Game. Bring a new stuffed toy to the game and throw it on the ice when the Pirates score their first goal. All donations will go to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital.
