The Atlantic City Surf''s poor defense led to six unearned runs as the Pennsylvania Road Warriors defeated the Surf 9-1 before a huge Friday night fireworks crowd of 5395 at the Sandcastle.
Brian Williams took the loss for Atlantic City, which got off on the wrong foot to begin the second half of the season.
The Road Warriors got six runs in the eighth inning, all of them unearned. It was a tough inning for Victor Gutierrez who committed two errors, one on a certain double play ball The game featured the Atlantic City debut of Pete Incavaglia and Garry Lee Maddox. Neither player got a hit as Inky went 0-for-4 and Maddox was 0-for-3. Chad Akers had the only RBI for Atlantic City.
Derrick Hurley, 4-6, got the victory for Pennsylvania.
