Berkshire Black Bears News Release
PITTSFIELD-The Berkshire Black Bears guaranteed wins to start the second half of the season and they delivered Friday night as they downed the Allentown Ambassadors 3-2. Black Bear starter Jackson Crowther got off to a rocky start but he managed to get out of a bases loaded 1 out jam.
Crowther went 6 innings allowing only 3 hits and striking out 5. Crowther got nastier when Ambassador batters reached base. Allentown stranded 9 runners on base while Crowther was on the mound. New reliever Matt Bailie came in and worked a scoreless 7th inning. He pitched 1 2/3 allowing 1 run on 2 hits; he struck out 1 and didn't walk a batter.
Fan favorite Joe Cotton came on in the 8th inning to work 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief. At the plate Chris Vasquez and Chris Sawyer delivered RBI's. The Black Bears managed just 5 hits on the night but they made them count. Jerome Daniels, Ryan Smith, Ender Gonzalez all had singles. Michael Moore and Curtis Goodwin both doubled. Goodwin has now hit safely in 19 straight games. His double led off the 6th and delivered the winning run.
