Bakersfield Condors News Release

The Bakersfield Condors have announced that the Anaheim Ducks, their National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate, have recalled G Justin Pogge, who becomes the first player in the Condors 12-year history to be recalled directly to the NHL.

Pogge, 23, has played in two games with the Condors this season, going 1-0-0, with a 0.75 goals-against average (GAA) and .950 save percentage (SV%). The Fort McMurray, Alberta, native earned a shutout in last Friday's season-opener, stopping all 15 Ontario Reign shots in a 5-0 victory.

Pogge spent time in the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008-09, posting a record of 1-4-1, with a 4.36 GAA and .844 SV% in seven games. The 6-4, 202-pound goaltender spent a majority of the season with Toronto's' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, going 26-21-5 with a 2.70 GAA and .895 SV% in 53 appearances.

Pogge was originally selected by Toronto in the third round (90th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by Anaheim from Toronto in exchange for a conditional selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft on Aug. 10, 2009.

This is the first recall of the season of a Condors player to either the NHL or AHL, after eight players were recalled in 2008-09.

The Ducks' next game is tonight at 7 p.m. at home against the Dallas Stars. The Condors take on the Victoria Salmon Kings in a three-game series this week on the road, beginning tonight at 7:05 p.m. These games can be seen online on B2 Networks and heard on ESPN Radio 1230 or at bakersfieldcondors.com.
