Week In Review - The Flint Generals captured three of a possible six points in league action last week. The Generals opened up the week with a 7-3 loss at Motor City on Wednesday night. Bobby Reynolds (27), Mike Kinnie (36) and Jason Selleke (8) scored for the Generals. On Friday, April 4, 2005 at Rockford, the Generals came up with a clutch defensive performance in defeating the Rockford Icehogs 4-1. Bobby Reynolds (29) figured in all scoring with two goals and two assists. Mike Kinnie (37) had one goal and two assists. Tom Ditzer (8) accounted for the other Flint goal. Goaltender Nathan Grobins stopped 41 of 42 shots for the victory. Flint returned home on Saturday, April 2, 2005 and earned a tough shootout point in the 4-3 loss against the Adirondack Frostbite. John DiPace (19), Tom Ditzer (9) and Jason Selleke (9) scored the Flint goals. Rob Valicevic had three assists and Reynolds chipped in with two assists. Grobins was solid between the pipes stopping 26 of 29 shots.

Sherwood/UHL Player of the Week Nominee – Player/Assistant Coach, Bobby Reynolds is our nominee for the Sherwood/U.H.L. Player of the Week ending April 3, 2005. In three games, Reynolds had three goals, four assists for seven points. Reynolds scored the game-winning goal and figured in all four goals in the 4-1 victory at Rockford last Friday night.

Southern Sports Supply/UHL Goaltender of the Week Nominee - Nathan Grobins is our nominee for the Southern Sports Supply/UHL Goaltender of the Week ending April 3, 2005. Grobins posted a record of 1-0-1 last week, including a 41 save performance in the 4-1 victory at Rockford on Friday night.

Port Huron Beacons (30-40-6, 66 pts.), Fifth Place, Central Division...Twelfth Place Overall.

Wednesday night is the ninth and final meeting against the Beacons this season. Flint is 3-2-3 against the Beacons. Leading scorers are center Aaron Brand (26g, 49a, 75 pts.) and left wing, David Beauregard (43g, 25a, 68 pts.) Port Huron posted a record of 1-2 last week. The Beacons lost to the visiting Muskegon Fury 5-2 on March 30th and defeated the Adirondack Frostbite 5-3 on April 1st at McMorran Arena. The Beacons lost to the visiting Rockford Icehogs 5-2 on Saturday, April 2nd. Port Huron wraps up the season with three of four games at home. After the game on Wednesday night, Port Huron hosts Kansas City on Friday, travels to Muskegon on Saturday night and closes out the season on Sunday afternoon against the visiting Danbury Trashers.

Quad City Mallards (36-29-11, 83 pts.) Fourth Place, Western Division...Eighth Place Overall.

These two games will be the sixth and seventh meetings of the season between the teams and could have major playoff implications on the line during these games. Quad City's leading scorers are center Mike Kompon (32g, 49a, 81 pts.) and Jason Deskins (27g, 35a, 62 pts.) Left wing Dave Stewart (290) leads the team in penalty minutes. The Mallards posted a record of 1-2-1 last week. On Wednesday, the Mallards lost to the visiting Rockford Icehogs 1-0 but rebounded with a 5-2 victory at Kansas City on Friday. Quad City wrapped up the weekend hosting the Kalamazoo Wings for two games. On Saturday, the Mallards dropped a 4-3 shootout against the Wings and lost 4-2 on Sunday afternoon. In this week's action, the Mallards host Rockford on Wednesday night and host Fort Wayne on Saturday.

Saturday, April 9, 2005 vs. Danbury Trashers, 7:35 p.m.

Danbury Trashers (43-27-6, 92 pts.) Second Place, Eastern Division....Sixth Place Overall.

Saturday night is the sixth and final meeting of the regular season against the Trashers. Danbury (2,676) is league leader in penalty minutes this season. Leading scorers are center Bruce Richardson (24g, 58a, 82 pts.) and center, Jeff Daw (29g, 47a, 76 pts.). The Trashers posted a record of 1-1-1 last week. On Wednesday, Danbury dropped a 4-3 shootout at Adirondack. Then, it was on to Richmond for a pair of games. On Friday, the Trashers defeated the Riverdogs 5-4 but fell to defeat 3-1 against the ‘Dogs on Saturday night. Danbury will complete the regular season on the road this week with games at Kalamazoo on Wednesday, in Muskegon on Friday, in Flint on Saturday and in Port Huron on Sunday.

Record: (33-31-12, 78 pts.) Third Place, Central Division. Ninth Place Overall.

Leading scorers: Bobby Reynolds, (29g, 70a, 99 pts.), Rob Valicevic (36g, 56a, 92 pts.) and Mike Kinnie (37g, 44a, 81pts.) Penalty minutes leader is Kam White (243). Reynolds is currently second overall in league scoring with 99 points trailing the league leader, Adirondack's Hugo Belanger by only two points. Right wing, Mike Kinnie is tied for the league lead in overall in rookie scoring, with Quad City's Mike Kompon (32g, 49a, 81 pts). Kinnie and Kompon will battle for the rookie scoring title as the next closest is Adirondack's Ryan Bennett with 57 points. Flint is among the league leaders in special teams play. On the power play, the Generals are 73-406 scoring at 18.0 percent good for third overall in the league. In penalty killing, Flint is 307-363 allowing 56 power play goals killing penalties at 84.6 percent. That's good for fourth overall in the United Hockey League.
