Jackson Generals News Release

Mobile, Ala. - Dario Pizzano and D.J. Peterson each hit key two-run home runs as Jackson took down Mobile 8-6 Sunday evening at Hank Aaron Stadium for the team's fourth consecutive win. The winning streak is the longest for Jackson since the team took four in a row from Huntsville last July.

Mobile (30-33) scored a pair of unearned runs off of Jake Zokan (2-4, 4.44) thanks to errors from Jordy Lara and Tyler Bortnick in the third inning to take an early lead, but the Generals answered back in the fourth. After a Dan Paolini single, Dario Pizzano crushed a two-run home run to right-center off of 2013 National League All-Star Patrick Corbin to tie the game at two. Corbin was making his second rehab start in his return from Tommy John surgery last year.

The BayBears went ahead again with a run in the fifth inning, but Jackson (26-36) took the lead for good with four runs in the sixth. Pizzano led off with a double and came into score on an RBI single by D.J. Peterson tie the game. Three batters later, Marcus Littlewood walked with the bases loaded to give the Generals their first lead of the game at 4-3. Zach Shank and Tyler Smith each drove in runs to push Jackson's edge to three. All four runs were charged to Jimmie Sherfy (0-3, 4.91), who recorded just one out while suffering his third loss of the season.

The lead was cut to two in the sixth when All-Star Brandon Drury hit a solo home run off of Zokan. The Jackson lefty went six innings for a third-consecutive start to earn his second Double-A win and his first since May 4.

D.J. Peterson gave the Generals a pair of big insurance runs in the top off the ninth. After a Dario Pizzano single, Peterson launched a monstrous home run to left field to make it 8-4 in favor of the visitors. Peterson drove in three of Jackson's eight runs and the long ball was his fourth of the season.

Jackson would need the big lead as closer Matt Anderson (S, 9) ran into some trouble in the ninth. The first four Mobile hitters all reached on hits, with former General Jack Reinheimer making it 8-6 with an RBI single to centerfield. The hit was Reinheimer's fourth of the game, but Anderson retired the next three hitters to put an end to the BayBears' rally. He struck out Drury looking to earn his ninth save.

Pizzano and Smith each finished with three hits in the game. Pizzano went 3-for-5 with a pair of extra-base hits for the second game in a row, pushing his average up to .316. The All-Star leads the team with 13 doubles and 33 runs batted in as well. It was the second game in a row that Jackson had 13 hits.

The Generals go for their first sweep of 2015 Monday afternoon in Mobile with Misael Siverio (1-6, 4.75) on the bump against righty Brandon Sinnery (4-5, 5.95) for the Bay Bears. First pitch from Hank Aaron Stadium is set for 12:05 pm CT, and you can listen to all the action on the TJ Network (AM 1390, FM 94.1 and 94.3) starting with the Jackson Generals Pregame Show protected by the Tennesee Army National Guard at 11:50 am CT.
