MOBILE, AL - LHP Patrick Corbin returns to Mobile for a Major League rehab start tonight versus the Jackson Generals. Corbin is recovering from Tommy John surgery that he suffered while playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks following his 2013 season.
In 2013, Corbin made the National League All-Star team after getting off to a historic start beginning with a 9-0 record and a blistering 2.06 earned run average through his first 11 starts. Corbin finished the season with a 14-8 record and a 3.41 earned run average on his way to becoming a Cy Young Award candidate.
The Mobile BayBears won back-to-back Southern League Championships in 2011 and 2012 and Corbin played a major role as he led the Southern League in innings pitched with 160.1 during the 2011 campaign. He started the 2012 season as one of the hottest pitchers in Minor League Baseball with a 2-0 record and a 1.67 earned run average through 4 starts before being called up to the Triple-A Reno Aces. Corbin would later be called up to the Arizona Diamondbacks where he would play for one and a half seasons before the injury.
Patrick Corbin will continue his Major League rehab tonight as he faces off against Jake Zokan of the Jackson Generals at Hank Aaron Stadium. First pitch is set for 5:05pm. The BayBears look to end their losing streak tonight and Corbin looks to make his way back to Arizona where the big league team anxiously awaits his arrival.
