Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Kenosha, WI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters (8-9) squandered a five-run lead and dropped a third consecutive game to the Kenosha Kingfish (10-7) with a 7-6 loss Wednesday.

They got out front early with a three-run first. Colin Summerhill singled home the opening run and two batters later Camden Traficante singled home a pair.

Loading the bases with nobody out in the third, the Pit Spitters managed just one run on a two-out walk. Leaving runners on base would prove very costly in the loss.

Kenosha homered to cut the lead to 4-1, but a two-run fourth made it 6-1. An RBI single would be the last run the Pit Spitters would score as the Kingfish bats woke up.

Kenosha scored six unanswered runs, with two runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Kenosha was very efficient as well, leaving only four runners on base all game, converting on their opportunities. Traverse City, however, left 14 runners on base, eight of those coming in the first three innings. They left the bases loaded twice, and those extra runners left on were the difference in this game.

The final game of the four-game series will be played tomorrow at 7:35 ET.
