Pirates to Offer Exclusive Ticket Lottery

Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League have announced an exclusive promotion for Cumberland County residents leading up to election day on Tuesday, November 8.

All residents of Cumberland County are encouraged to enter online at portlandpirates.com, for an opportunity to win a pair of free tickets to one of the Pirates four home games during the month of October. Following the collection of online entries, 5,000 lucky fans will be selected in a random lottery to win a pair of free tickets to see the Pirates take on the Manchester Monarchs (October 15 or 19), Adirondack Phantoms (October 21), or Providence Bruins (October 22).

In addition to the ticket promotion, a public skating "Open House" will be hosted by the Civic Center on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9 from 1-5 p.m. each day. All local residents are invited to join Salty Pete, Crackers, and members of the Portland Pirates (past and present) for this free event complete with complimentary refreshments. Architectural renderings will be on display at the Civic Center during these two dates, to give all attendees a glance at the proposed renovation plans for a new and improved Civic Center.

Participants must bring their own skates as skate rentals will not be available at the Civic Center, and no hockey sticks or pucks will be allowed on the ice.

Citizens for a Modern Civic Center officially kicked off its campaign around proposed renovations at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Wednesday, September 14. The renovations will result in an enhanced experience for people who attend events at the Civic Center. The proposed plan calls for improvements and an increase in restrooms; expansion of the concourse; new seating including premium seating; increase in concession stands; major improvements for handicap access and seating and numerous other necessary upgrades. The Pirates will open their 19th season of competition, presented by Bill Dodge Auto Group, on the road against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, October 8th at 7 p.m. The high-flying action will open at home for the 34th season of AHL action at the Cumberland County Civic Center, on Saturday, October 15th when the Manchester Monarchs visit in a 7 p.m. start, featuring a JobsinME.com Magnetic Schedule giveaway. Individual tickets for the Pirates 2011-12 regular season are now on sale and fans can purchase their tickets to any of the 38 Pirates home games by visiting the Pirates ticket office, Cumberland County Civic Center box office (open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.), or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
