Pirates Sign Ivan McLennan

WORCESTER, MA - The Massachusetts Pirates have signed Ivan McLennan. The 6'3", 265 lb. product of Washington State can play defensive line or linebacker.

Most recently McLennan had signed a contract this season with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League. Before the pandemic, McLennan had played from 2017 through 2019 with three different teams in the CFL.

McLennan, a native of Hawthorne, CA, first played in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes in 2017, appearing in 11 games making 17 tackles and three more on special teams. He also accounted for one sack. 2018 saw him with the BC Lions playing in 18 games. There he had 16 tackles, made nine more on special teams and posted two sacks. The Calgary Stampeders had his services in 2019 for two games where he had a pair of tackles. In all, McLennan appeared in 31 games with 35 tackles, 12 more on special teams with three sacks.

McLennan played two seasons at Washington State University. In 25 games he made 63 tackles, had 14.5 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks, defended two passes, forced one fumble and blocked a kick. In 2016 he signed with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League as an undrafted free agent.

McLennan started his collegiate career at El Camino Jr. College. As a sophomore he was a JUCO All-American. In his freshman year he earned All-Central Conference honors after making 77 tackles, 10.5 tackles-for-loss and three sacks. He also intercepted one pass and recovered three fumbles. As a sophomore in addition to being a JUCO All-American, he received first team all-conference honors after making 79 tackles including 9.5 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks. That year McLennan also returned an interception for a touchdown, forced a fumble and recovered one.
