Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have recalled rookie defenseman Joel Hanley from their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators.

The 6-foot, 180 pound Keswick, Ontario native scored his first professional goal in Gladiators debut on October 18 in a 3-1 loss to the Evansville IceMen. He has played a total of three games with Gwinnett this season, totaling 1-0-1 with a +1 rating.

Prior to joining the Glads, Hanley played in one preseason game for Portland before he was reassigned.

Hanley signed a one year, two-way AHL contract with the Pirates in August after he made his pro debut with Portland last season. He played 15 games in the 2013-14 season for the Pirates after signing an Amateur Tryout Contract, collecting five assists and six penalty minutes.

Hanley will be eligible to play in tonight's game in Worcester against the Sharks.

You can hear tonight's game from the DCU Center on the WPEI Portland Pirates Radio Network with Jeff Mannix, starting with the Pirates Pregame Show at 6:40.
