Central Valley Coyotes News Release

There is no foolproof way to determine how good the Central Valley Coyotes will be this season. With the high turnover ratio of af2 players making the jump to the Arena Football League, head coach Cree Morris is determined to bring in a good nucleus and make the Coyotes one of the elite among the af2.

With the new division alignment for the 2004 season, the Coyotes will play in the National Conference West Division, which includes the Bakersfield Blitz, the Hawaiian Islanders and the San Diego Riptide. Central Valley will also compete against three expansion teams including the Rio Grande Valley Dorados, the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz and the Bakersfield Blitz.

Here are the Coyotes home opponents for 2004:

Bakersfield
Hawaii
Peoria
Rio Grande Valley
San Diego

Central Valley will travel to the following teams:

Bakersfield
Green Bay
Hawaii
San Diego
Oklahoma City

Central Valley's schedule appears to be relatively moderate. Their opponents' 2003 combined record is 23-41, which computes to a .359 winning percentage. Peoria, which finished 5-11, should rebound from an inconsistent season, and Hawaii finished the regular season with the West Division title.

The Coyotes' light travel schedule is also noteworthy. Trips to Green Bay and Hawaii appear to be the toughest thus far. The Coyotes will also play twice at all divisional opponents. If the Coyotes are to have a successful season this year they must do so on the road against their division.

Other Coyotes Notes

Central Valley will be conducting their second player try-outs, Saturday February 21 at Hoover High School in Fresno. Details of the combine will be available at centralvalleycoyotes.com.

The Coyotes will play a 16-game regular season schedule, including eight action-packed home games at the Selland Arena. Season tickets information can be attained by calling the Coyotes office at (559) 498-1182 or by logging on to centralvalleycoyotes.com.
