Portland Pirates News Release
Lewiston, ME - The Pirates return home on Wednesday for their second straight game against the Providence Bruins at 7 pm. This is the second game of a three game stretch between the two teams. The Pirates won the first game between the two this week, a 4-2 decision on Sunday in Providence.
In Sunday's contest, the Pirates got goals from Darian Dziurzynski and Brandon Gormley, their first goals of the season, and Andy Miele got the game winner in the third period. Tobias Rieder added a 4th Pirates goal, an empty netter, as time expired to ice the victory for the Pirates and snap their 5 game winless streak. Louis Domingue made 31 saves for his second victory of the season, in his third ever AHL start. All three of Domingue's AHL starts have come against the Bruins, and all of them have been victories. Former Pirate Nick Johnson, currently on recall with Boston Bruins, has scored twice against the Pirates this season, including a goal on Sunday.
KeyBank Key to the Game
Rieder Reliance: With the recall of Gilbert Brule to the Coyotes, Tobias Rieder takes over as the Pirates leading goal scorer. Rieder is on another hot streak, with 3 goals in the last two games, so look for the Pirates to get him the puck as they look to beat Providence for the third time in a row.
Tonight's game can be heard on the Pirates flagship stations WPEI 95.5/95.9 FM as well as WEZR AM 1240 in the Lewiston/Auburn area and WTME AM 780/1450 in Oxford County. The game can also be heard online at portlandpirates.com by clicking "Listen Live" and can be seen live on AHL Live at ahllive.com. The pregame show starts at 6:40 with Jeff Mannix.
