Massachusetts Pirates News Release
WORCESTER, MA. - The Massachusetts Pirates have announced the signing of defensive back Harlan Miller, who joins the team after playing in the XFL earlier this calendar year.
Miller (6'0", 182 lbs.) last played for the XFL's Los Angeles Wildcats in Spring 2020. He appeared in four of five games before the league's season was shut down in mid-March due to COVID-19. Prior to that, Miller spent parts of three seasons in the NFL with the Washington Football Team (2018) and the Arizona Cardinals (2016-17). He appeared in nine career NFL games and recorded 13 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.
A native of Kentwood, Louisiana, Miller was a two-time FCS All-American at Southeastern Louisiana University. His 11 career interceptions rank fourth in school history. Following his college football career, Miller appeared in the 2016 Reese's Senior Bowl Game. He resides in Arizona during the offseason. Miller was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the sixth-round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The Massachusetts Pirates have also signed defensive lineman Reggie Howard to their 2021 roster. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Howard last played for the XFL's Los Angeles Wildcats earlier this calendar year.
Prior to playing in the XFL, Howard spent time with the NFL's Los Angeles Chargers. He was signed as an undrafted free agent in April 2019 and was released in August 2019.
Howard played his final two seasons of college football at the University of Toledo (2017-18). In his senior season, Howard led his team in tackles for loss with 15. His 4 sacks were good for second-best on the team. As a junior, he played in all 14 games for the Rockets.
The 6'3", 305 pound defensive lineman played at Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kansas during his freshman and sophomore seasons.
Howard becomes the team's sixth defensive lineman and twentieth player overall signed so far this offseason. The Pirates have signed more defensive lineman than any other position up to this point. With the Los Angeles Wildcats, Howard played in four games and recorded 7 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery this past Spring.
