KELOWNA, BC - The Yakima Valley Pippins won their fourth straight game by way of a 12-4 win over the Kelowna Falcons Wednesday night at Elks Stadium.

A scoreless stalemate emerged early between Yakima Valley starter Austin Woodward and Kelowna starter Matt Moriarty. The two exchanged scoreless innings through the first four innings of play, although at least one base runner reached in each of those innings.

The Pippins (11-8 overall, 8-6 West Coast League) broke the scoreless tie in the top of the 5th inning, as Mitch Skaggs drove an RBI single to left field to score one run, before Shawn Wardian's bases-loaded walk and Taylor Snyder's RBI single made it 3-0.

Yakima Valley blew the game open in the 6th, getting RBI singles from Jake Roberts and Reid Martinez, before Vince Fernandez hit his second home run in as many games, this one a three-run shot to put the Pippins up 8-0.

Woodward exited after six solid innings, surrendering just three hits, no runs, a walk and a strikeout in his first league start of the year. The Falcons (6-11) got an unearned run off reliever Gabe Gentner in the 7th inning, but the Pippins answered with their final four runs in the top of the 8th to comfortably put the game away.

With the win, the Pippins have won four straight series and have won seven of their last nine games and will go for their first sweep of the season Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. against the Falcons.
