The Bend Elks swept the Victoria Harbour Cats Wednesday, defeating them by a score of 4-1. The Harbour Cats scored their only run in the 3rd inning. The Elks came right back in the 4th when Jake Peeveyhouse scored on a Nick Lopez sacrifice fly, tying the game. The Elks took the lead in the 7th and never looked back, scoring runs in both the 8th and in the 9th off a Grant Newton solo home run. Jake Thompson got the win for Bend after pitching 6 innings, giving up the only Cat run on 5 hits and striking out 7. Kevin Sheets got his 3rd save striking out 3 Harbour Cats in two and a third innings of relief. After going 6-3 on the longest road trip of the season, the Elks return home on Friday to face the Walla Walla Sweets. Friday is Cap night brought to you by The Center and American Licorice. The first 1000 fans through the gate get a free cap. First pitch is at 6:25 PM, with both audio and video available online at bendelks.com.
