
Pioneers Ranked Top Team in arenafootball2

Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are excited to announce the team has been voted the No. 1 team in arenafootball2 in the Week 6 Coaches Poll, the league office announced today. The Pioneers earned 275 points, including 13 first-place votes to earn the No. 1 ranking for the first time.
"It's nice to be recognized by my coaching peers," said Pioneers head coach Les Moss. "However, I want to emphasize that we're only four games into the season. We have a good football team, but there is a long way to go yet."
The Wichita Stealth, who were idle in Week 5, slipped to the second spot with 272 points and 11 first-place votes. The Quad City Steamwheelers moved up to third from fourth a week ago with 217 points. The Louisville Fire went from third to fourth this week but did earn one first-place vote.
Other teams gaining spots in the Top 12 this week include the Cape Fear Wildcats, Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz and Florida Firecats. The Wildcats jumped from eighth to sixth, the Yard Dawgz went from ninth to eighth and the Firecats gained one spot by moving from 12th to 11th. The Rio Grande Valley Dorados broke into the Top 12 for the first time this week, holding the 12th position in the poll.
The Pioneers will take on the Albany Conquest this Saturday at the Pepsi Arena in Albany, New York. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's next home game will be Saturday, May 22nd against the Cape Fear Wildcats. Fans may purchase tickets at Wachovia Arena box office or by calling 570-970-4af2.
