Pigs Look to Clinch Playoff Berth

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will look to clinch a playoff berth for the second time in franchise history on Thursday night when they open a crucial five-game home-and-home set with the Rochester Red Wings at Frontier Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

LHP Anthony Vasquez (4-0, 2.83) gets the ball for the Pigs in the series opener. Vasquez earned the win on Saturday at Buffalo when he allowed two runs on four hits while walking one and fanning three in seven innings of work. In all 11 of his starts with Lehigh Valley this season, the southpaw has left with the lead or with the game tied.

LHP Nick Greenwood (5-3, 3.11) will toe the rubber for Rochester opposite Vasquez on Thursday night. Greenwood got a no-decision on Saturday at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits to go along with two walks and four strikeouts in 7.0 IP. The University of Rhode Island product is 1-1 with a 2.51 ERA in two starts against the Pigs this season.

After hitting the go-ahead solo home run on Wednesday night, Pigs C Andrew Knapp has now hit safely in his last five games. During that stretch, Knapp is hitting .350-1-5 (7-20, 3 2B, 3 R).
