
Pigs Fly to Whitaker Bank Ballpark in First Homestand of Second Half of Season

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends kick off the second half of the season with a packed home stand full of pigs, from Peppa Pig to Pig at the Park. The Legends will first welcome in the Charleston RiverDogs for a three-game series then the Columbia Fireflies another three-game set.
"This homestand features some unique promotions that include some characters that fans maybe aren't used to seeing at a baseball game. Peppa Pig and George will be a lot of fun for kids and parents alike, giving them the opportunity to see some of their favorite television characters in person. Diehard sports fans can keep up with the NBA Draft in real time with our own version of a Draft party on Thursday along with another Thirsty Thursday," said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea.
Thursday, June 21 at 7:05 p.m. vs. Charleston: Baseball and basketball will come together as the Legends will incorporate the NBA Draft into the night's festivities. Fans who wear their favorite NBA jersey will receive $8 box seats and can enter to win a Karl Anthony Towns Minnesota Timberwolves jersey or Anthony Davis jersey. The top draft picks will be played on the video boards at Whitaker Bank Ballpark so no one will miss a pick. Fans can compete in the Legends' skills competition throughout the game at the Whitaker Bank Basketball Court down the first base side, with dunk contests and a three-point challenge as well. It is also Thirsty Thursday courtesy of our friends at Kentucky Ale and Pepsi. Enjoy $1 12 oz. beers and $3 16 oz. beers at the Bullpen Patio, First Base Pavilion Tent, and the Handlebar in the first base concourse. $1 Pepsi products will be available in the 1st base and 3rd base concession stands. Fans can also bring their four-legged friends for Bark in the Park with a $2 donation to Scott County Humane Society. The Legends will also be featuring the KwizFun App, a local Lexington startup, throughout the game. Fans can interact all nine innings with trivia about a variety of topics from Legends history, to other categories. The fourth and sixth inning interactions will be featured on the video board for everyone to get involved in the competition! Winners will receive a Legends Prize Pack as well as prizes from KwizFun.
Friday, June 22 at 7:05 p.m. vs. Charleston: Fans can come celebrate on inclusiveness on our first LGBTQ+ Night presented by Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission and Lexington Pride Festival. When gates open at 6:00 p.m., Friday Night Live will kick off on the First Base Pavilion with live music throughout the game. Following the final out, there will be a spectacular fireworks show!
Saturday, June 23 at 6:35 p.m. vs. Charleston: We will honor all First Responders, including police officers, firefighters, EMS, correctional officers, deputy jailers and dispatchers on First Responders Night presented by Woodmen Life. First Responders can purchase discounted tickets, based on availability, by clicking this link. Before the Legends take the field, fans can take in the annual Guns vs. Hoses game, featuring the Lexington Police Department and Lexington Fire Department. The winner will receive the first place trophy, and the loser will receive the consolation prize of a toilet seat. Gates will open at 1:00 p.m. and the game begins at 2:00 p.m. Fans can enter with a Legends ticket for the game. Go Red for Women is a national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women sponsored nationally by Macy's and CVS, and locally by KentuckyOne Health and Passport Health Plan. KentuckyOne Health, Passport Health Plan, the American Heart Association have annually teamed up with the Legends for "Go Red Night", 2018 being our 9th season hosting "Go Red Night". Employees, families, community members and Legends fans are encouraged to wear red and support women's heart health. Be sure to stick around for postgame fireworks! It will also be the second night of KwizFun! Fans can answer questions all night long with a stadium-wide trivia game on the app during the fourth and sixth innings. Winners will receive prizes from the Legends and KwizFun!
Sunday, June 24 at 4:35 p.m. vs. Columbia: Fans of all ages are invited to Pedal to the Park on Sunday, June 24! There will be a group start at noon from Bicycle Face with stops at Broomwagon, West Sixth Brewing and then ending at Whitaker Bank Ballpark for a bike parade around the warning track 30 minutes before the game. Fans can leave their bicycle with our bike valet and then enjoy an afternoon Legends game with friends! Ticket can be purchased from Bicycle Face, Broomwagon or through the Legends. It is also another Free Ticket Sunday courtesy of JiF! Kids get in FREE on Sundays! Gates will open early at 3:00 p.m. for Playtime on the Outfield until 3:30 p.m.
Monday, June 25 at 7:05 p.m. vs. Columbia: The Legends will welcome Peppa Pig and George to Whitaker Bank Ballpark on Monday, June 25. Fans of all ages can participate in a FREE meet and greet with pictures and autographs with the stars of the hit television show. Peppa Pig and George will be under the Kids Tent in the Toyota Triple Play Zone beginning at 6:30 p.m. to meet youngsters and take photos. Peppa won't be the only pig at Whitaker Bank Ballpark that night...it will also be the legendary Pig at the Park! Fans can bring their leashed pigs with a $2 donation to Scott County Humane Society. Pigs will be allowed in the Bullpen Patio, lawn (third base side), and in sections 114 and 214. Parking will also be free that night courtesy of Members Heritage Credit Union.
Tuesday, June 26 at 7:05 p.m. vs. Columbia: The Lexington Legends will honor the reality cooking competition television series, Top Chef, currently touring the Commonwealth for their upcoming season, with their very own Top Chef: Lexington Legends night on Tuesday, June 26 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The television show on Bravo features chefs competing against each other in various culinary challenges. They are judged by a panel of professional chefs and other notables from the food and wine industry with one or more contestants eliminated in each episode. Each season, the show highlights a new and up-and-coming culinary scene in cities and states throughout the world. After a red carpet showing by Commonwealth representatives, the producers chose Kentucky as the location for the 18th season. The famous chef judges and television series will be in Kentucky filming various locations in Louisville, Lexington and Lake Cumberland throughout the month of June. Scenes and episodes from Top Chef Kentucky will air later this year on Bravo. During the 25c Hot Dog Tuesday game, the Legends will conduct their very own cooking challenge, Top Chef: Lexington Legends, between kid "cheftestants" selected in attendance before the game. The kid cheftestants will compete in various challenges and the winning dish from each challenge will be featured on the Kentucky Ale Taproom menu for the rest of the season. The kid chefs will be cooking from the Stables kitchen located down the 1st base line at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The top chef from the competition will also win a Legends Ultimate Prize pack and be invited back for a game to be honored.
