Piercey to Face-Off vs. Shawinigan in Round 1 of Memorial ECup Presented by Kia Saturday

Flint, Mich. - 60 players, representing all 60 teams* in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) dropped the puck virtually on the Memorial eCup, presented by Kia. The premiere edition of the eSports tournament is being played by all 60 CHL teams competing against each other on EA SPORTS' NHL 21 on PlayStation 4 (PS4).

An impressive longstanding partnership between the CHL and EA Sports' allows fans around the world to play as all 60 CHL teams, including all 20 OHL teams, in the NHL video game on both the PlayStation and Xbox counsels. The CHL is the only junior hockey league to be featured in the video game.

Firebirds' forward Riley Piercey and the Flint Firebirds will face-off against the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's (QMJHL) Shawinigan Cataractes and Xavier Bourgault in round 1 of the Memorial eCup, presented by Kia, this Saturday at 5:05 p.m.

Fans can watch all of the Flint Firebirds' games in the tournament on both the Firebirds official Facebook page and Twitch accounts. Twitch is an American video live streaming service that primarily focuses on video game live streaming, including broadcasts of esports competitions.

On the ice, Piercey was acquired in a trade with the Barrie Colts on Jan. 7, 2020. Prior to coming to Flint, Piercey recorded 13 points (9G, 4A) in 35 games and then added another 21 points (8G, 13A) in eight less games with the Firebirds. The Mississauga, Ont. native finished this past season with 34 points (17G, 17A) in 62 games this campaign.
