Philadelphia Union News Release

CHESTER, Pa.- Philadelphia Union have announced that defender Josh Yaro underwent successful shoulder surgery this week in Glen Mills, Pa. The surgery was conducted by the Union's Orthopedic Surgery Team at Premier Orthopedics to repair a labral tear after suffering the injury during preseason in Clearwater, Florida.

"Josh came into preseason very fit and sharp. This setback is tough, but the right thing to do was to be proactive and surgery to repair the shoulder is what's best for Josh long term," Philadelphia Union Head Coach Jim Curtin said. "We know he will come back stronger than ever. We have a very deep roster that we believe in, and we know the next man will step up in Josh's absence."

Yaro's expected recovery time is three-to four months. The defender was selected by Philadelphia Union No. 2 overall in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft and made his MLS debut on the road on April, 16 against Seattle Sounders. Yaro finished his rookie campaign with 17 appearances and 1,327 minutes played.
