Philadelphia Union News Release

CHESTER, Pa. (April 5 2010) -6abc (WPVI) and its sister station Live Well HD Network will broadcast all of Philadelphia Union's matches live, except those broadcast nationally, the club announced today. All telecasts will be broadcast in HD and available over the air on 6abc (6.1) or on the Live Well HD Network (6.2), one of the station's high definition digital channels. The club has also announced that former MLS player and current League analyst Kyle Martino will join JP Dellacamera to form Philadelphia Union's broadcast team.

"We are excited to provide our broadcast in both High Definition and over the air," said Philadelphia Union President Tom Veit. "We know with the size of our stadium and with our ever-growing fan base, most fans will experience Union games in part on television so it is with the utmost importance that we strive to create the best local broadcast in Major League Soccer. We believe with WPVI, our production crew and JP [Dellacamera] and Kyle [Martino], we will do just that."

"We are very pleased to add the inaugural Philadelphia Union schedule to our already top rated slate of programs on 6abc and the Live Well HD Network," said Bernie Prazenica, President and General Manager of 6abc. "We are committed to bringing Major League Soccer to all fans in the Delaware and Lehigh Valleys."

In addition to the game broadcast, each telecast will include a 30-minute pregame show and several times during the year a special Union Extra post-game show. The exact station location of most games has been determined but please check your local listings for the most-up-to-date information.

Martino, a color analyst for ESPN, has enjoyed numerous national and international successes as a player. After a standout career at the University of Virginia, Martino was drafted eighth overall in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew. He played four years for the Crew before spending his final two seasons with the LA Galaxy. During his six-year career, Martino scored 13 goals in 141 appearances, earned the 2001 Rookie of the Year Award and was a 2003 MLS All-Star. In 2004, he helped Columbus to one of its most successful seasons in history, when the Crew strung together a League record 18 straight unbeaten games and set a new MLS record for ties in a season with 13. From 2002-05, Martino played for the USMNT, earning eight caps and scoring one goal. He retired from competition in 2008.

6abc in HD can be seen on Comcast Digital Channel 231, DirecTV Channel 6, DishTV Channel 8150 and Verizon Fios channel 514. The Live Well HD Network is owned and operated by the ABC Owned Television Station Division and can be found in Philadelphia over the air (6.2), on Comcast HD (245) and on Verizon Fios (466).
