CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union hired Marisa Pilla as the Union insider, the club announced Monday. As the Union insider, Pilla will be the voice and face of Union news by hosting weekly video features, as well as writing and producing weekly content for PhiladelphiaUnion.com.

"This is a dream job for me," said Pilla. "I grew up watching Philly sports and understand the impact sports have in this community. The Union has a strong and passionate fan base and I can't wait to provide our fans engaging content during the 2016 season."

A native of the Philadelphia area, Pilla grew up in Churchville, Pa. and attended Council Rock South high school. A graduate of the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism, Pilla joins the Union from CSN Mid-Atlantic where she served as an on-air contributor covering the Washington Wizards and D.C. United. Pilla also worked as a sideline reporter, covering Colonial Athletic Association men's and women's basketball.

While pursing her bachelor's degree at her alma mater, Pilla also worked as the play-by-play and color commentator for the women's volleyball team and covered women's soccer.

"We have been searching for a local Philadelphia native who shares our fans' passion for the Union and soccer," Philadelphia Union Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Dave Rowan said. "Marisa checks off all those boxes and has the experiences to back it. We look forward to her developing a relationship with our great fans as the Union insider."
