Pheasants Strengthen Bullpen, Re-Sign Relievers Pluta & Rosen

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants have been busy re-signing some of the best offensive talent in the league over the last few weeks and now they are reloading one of the best pitching staffs in the American Association. The Pheasants announced today they have re-signed hurlers Andrew Pluta and Ben Rosen for the 2011 season.

Pluta appeared in 35 games last year with the Pheasants, going 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA. The San Diego, CA native fanned 17 batters and allowed just 40 hits over 35.2 innings pitched. The right-handed reliever will be entering his third season in Sioux Falls in 2011. He went 4-0 with a 3.12 ERA in 24 appearances in 2009 while holding batters to a .268 average.

Rosen joined the Pheasants in early July and went 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 14 games. Rosen struck out an impressive 21 batters and allowed just 17 hits during that time. He also went 1-0 in the playoffs, allowing no hits in the 11th inning of the Pheasants 4-3 win over Lincoln in Game 2 of the North Division Championship. A native of Larimore, ND, Rosen signed with the Pheasants following his collegiate career at the College of Idaho. The right-handed reliever went 10-3 with a 2.32 ERA and was named honorable mention for the NAIA All-American Team his senior year.

The Pheasants open the 2011 regular season in St. Paul on May 12th. The Pheasants home opener is set for Monday, May 16th at 7:05 PM against Winnipeg. Season, group and suite tickets are now available. Contact the Pheasants office for more details at 333-0179.
