
Phantoms Sign Right Wing Daniel Steiner To PTO

GLENS FALLS, NY - The Adirondack Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, announced today that they have signed right wing Daniel Steiner to a professional tryout contract, calling him up from the Reading Royals of the ECHL.
Steiner, 29, comes to Adirondack having scored 18 points (4 goals, 14 assists) in 12 games for Reading, leading the Royals in points and assists; he is currently tied for 8th in the ECHL in assists and is tied for 21st in the league in points. The Bern, Switzerland native, played the first ten years of his pro career in the Swiss Nationalliga A, seven of which with SC Langnau. During the 2008-09 season Steiner led Langnau with 25 goals and was third on the team with 40 points in 50 games played. In 380 career Nationalliga A games, he recorded 222 points (109 goals, 113 assists) and had 395 penalty minutes.
Steiner, 6'0", 198 lbs, made his North American and ECHL debut with Reading during their season opener on October 15th versus Kalamzoo and scored his first North American point two days later against Elmira. He also put together a four-game point streak from November 13th vs. Trenton to November 20th at Florida, piling up 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) over that span.
Steiner will be looking to make his AHL debut with Adirondack in Hershey on Saturday, November 28th as they battle the Bears for the second straight night; face off is scheduled for 7:00 pm at the Giant Center. The Phantoms next home game at the Glens Falls Civic Center is another Time Warner Cable Cup showdown with the Albany River Rats on Saturday, December 5th at 7:00 pm.
