Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms will honor some of the toughest players ever to wear a Flyers or Phantoms jersey this Friday night when they host the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 at the Wachovia Center. It will be Tribute To Tough Guys Night as the Phantoms pay homage to the long-standing tradition of tough, physical hockey here in Philadelphia.

As part of the evening, former Flyers Dave Schultz, Bob Kelly, and Dave Brown will all be on hand, along with former Phantom Frank Bialowas. The four will be signing autographs on the concourse before the game. Also on the concourse, the Phantoms face painters will be adding to their menu of options by offering to give fans a "black eye" using face paint. To close out the pregame festivities, there will be a special ceremonial "glove drop" at center ice immediately prior to faceoff.

During the game itself, the Wachovia Center video board will feature several video tributes to some of the toughest players ever to take the ice in Philadelphia. In addition to the four former players attending the game, vignettes of Paul Holmgren, Pete Vandermeer, Craig Berube, Francis Lessard, Josh Gratton and Riley Cote will be displayed.

The Phantoms will also be connecting Tough Guys night to perhaps one of the toughest Phantoms of all time, Ben Stafford, who is currently serving with a Marine Corps unit in Iraq. During the game, the Phantoms will be holding a supply drive to collect items for shipment to troops in Iraq. Every person who brings supplies to the drive will receive a raffle ticket. During the game, three prizes will be awarded. The grand prize winner will receive a pair of hockey gloves signed by the four players attending the game, as well as Holmgren, Gratton, Berube and Cote. One runner-up will receive a large hammer signed by Schultz, and another a stuffed Hound Dog signed by Kelly.

A list of items fans can bring to the game can be found at Phantomshockey.com.
