YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - After leading his team to three crucial road wins last week, Youngstown Phantoms center Austin Cangelosi added an individual accolade Monday. The United States Hockey League announced that Cangelosi has been named its CCM Offensive Player of the Week.

It is the second time in his two-year career that Cangelosi, 18, has captured the USHL's weekly honor. The Boston College recruit racked up three goals, four assists and seven points while leading the Phantoms (31-21-0, 62 points) to road wins over the Dubuque Fighting Saints, Chicago Steel and Muskegon Lumberjacks last week.

"I couldn't be happier for Austin," head coach Anthony Noreen said. "We had three games in three days against three divisional opponents and Austin was the best player on the ice for us all weekend long."

Cangelosi notched a goal and two assists Thursday as the Phantoms downed the league-leading Fighting Saints 4-3, handing them just their third regulation loss on home ice this season. The captain set up Cam Brown on a short-handed goal to open the scoring, launched Kyle Connor on a breakaway to put Youngstown in front late in the period and notched a power-play goal in the second period.

Friday the Estero, Fla. native remained red-hot with his second straight three-point night as the Phantoms defeated the Steel 4-3 at the Edge Ice Arena. He got the Phantoms on the board during a power play in the first period and then set up John Padulo on the man-advantage in the second, before assisting on Connor's eventual game-winning goal in the third.

Saturday in Muskegon, Mich., Cangelosi tallied his third goal in as many games as the Phantoms closed out their season series against the rival Lumberjacks with a 4-1 win. His goal came on a power play just 57 second into third period and proved to be a dagger giving Youngstown a two-goal cushion.

"There was no bigger test for our team than these three games and Austin did what we've become accustomed to him doing," Noreen said. "That's being dominant every shift, competing as hard as anyone on the ice and being involved on special teams on both sides - both penalty kill and power play - and being an impact player 5-on-5.

"That's the reason he's our captain, because of the way he competes when it's on the line."

Cangelosi is currently riding a five-game point streak with 3-7-10 over that span. Already the Phantoms franchise's all-time leading scorer, he has collected 17-36-53, a plus-15 rating and 37 penalty minutes in 44 games this season and 46-66-112 in 97 career games for Youngstown.

The Phantoms close out their string of five straight on the road Tuesday when they take on the U.S. National Under-18 Team. Puck drop vs. Team USA is set for 7:00 p.m. EST at the Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Mich., and the game will be webcast on FASTHockey.com.
