Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., Oct 4., 2010) - The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Clubs today announced that Long Island Ducks general manager Michael Pfaff has been named the league's General Manager of the Year for 2010.
In 2010, a season where the team entered its second decade of play, the Ducks hosted the league's 13th All-Star Game, opened a new restaurant/bar on the ballpark's suite level, installed a new HD digital video board in centerfield and led all of independent baseball in attendance, drawing over 400,000 fans to Suffolk County Sports Park. Pfaff secured the presenting sponsor of the league All-Star Game and the Ducks "All-Star Summer", reaching an agreement with mobile communications giant T-Mobile in February. The Ducks also continued to broaden their body of work with not-for-profits, as multiple foundations and organizations during the year benefited from the club's unique fundraising programs. This marks the second such award in Pfaff's career, with his first coming after the 2008 season.
"This recognition is only possible through the great efforts of our entire front office staff," said Pfaff. "From ownership to interns, everyone rows in the same direction for 12 months a year and the result is the great product that the community of Long Island has come to know and love as Ducks baseball. I am very grateful to work with such a wonderful group of people."
The Long Island Ducks have completed their 11th season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. They have filled their ballpark to over 100 percent capacity for 11 consecutive seasons and are one of the most successful minor league franchises in the country.
