(Bridgeport, Conn. - October 4, 2010) - The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball today announced that Willie Upshaw has been named the Atlantic League's 2010 Manager of the Year.

In his fourth full season with the Bluefish, Upshaw helped lead the Bluefish to the teams' first postseason berth since 2006. Bridgeport has improved by 19 games in the standings after completing 2009 with a 64-76 mark. The Bluefish finished with the best record in the Atlantic League (83-57) which matched the 2001 Somerset Patriots for the second best mark in the history of the Atlantic League. In picking up 47 second half wins, the team fell one victory shy of catching the 2005 Atlantic City Surf for most wins in a half in ALPB history.

"It's a great honor to be named 2010 Atlantic League Manager of the Year," said Bluefish Manager Willie Upshaw. "Our team worked extremely hard on the field all season long and this award is certainly a testament to that."

The Bridgeport Bluefish made the playoffs and advanced to the Atlantic League Championship after defeating the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Upshaw has made it to the postseason in all four full seasons he has managed the team.

The Bridgeport Bluefish Professional Baseball Club, a charter team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, plays its home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, located off Exit 27 of I-95 on the corner of Broad Street and South Frontage Road in Bridgeport. 2011 season tickets are available by calling 203-345-4800.
