Pettit's Debut a Beauty

The Keys got contribution from both players making their league debut's in Jake Pettit and Michael Flacco en route to a 6-2 win Thursday night in Wilmington to even the series at a game apiece. Pettit worked six shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out seven batters for the win.

It didn't hurt that when Pettit first went to the hill he already had the lead.

In the first inning with two men down Keys DH Jacob Julius hit a two-run home run to right-center field to give the Keys a 2-0 lead. They would not look back. The Keys scored two more runs on three extra base hits in the fourth inning to lead 4-0. The last of the hits was the first for Flacco, an RBI-triple to score the Keys fourth run.

The Keys added another run on a two-out RBI-triple from CF Miguel Abreu to lead 5-0 in the fifth inning.

Pettit and Flacco were added to the roster as starter Oliver Drake was promoted to Double-A Bowie and 1B Tyler Townsend returned to the disabled list with hamstring tightness.

The Keys continue the four-game series in Wilmington on Friday, July 15th at 7:00 p.m. with LHP Nathan Moreau on the hill looking for his 10th win of the year. Frederick returns home for a week long homestand with a Tote Bag giveaway to the first 1,000 fans on Friday, July 22nd. It is Going Green Night presented by the Frederick Department of Solid Waste Management.
