Charlotte Knights News Release

(LAWRENCEVILLE, GA) - Chicago White Sox RHP Jake Petricka, who began the 2015 season on Chicago's disabled list with a right forearm strain, will begin a Major League Rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights tonight as the team plays the Gwinnett Braves from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA. Tonight's 6:35 p.m. game is the finale of a two-game series between the two teams.

Petricka, 26, spent the majority of the 2014 season with the White Sox after beginning the campaign with the Knights. The Minnesota native was recalled to Chicago from Charlotte on April 4, 2014 and never returned to the Queen City. He went on to post a 1-6 record with a 2.96 ERA and 14 saves in 67 games with the White Sox. Petricka, a second round pick of the White Sox in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, led all Major League rookies in saves and ranked third in appearances last season.

In five seasons at the Minor League level, Petricka has appeared in 100 games and owns a 22-22 record with a 3.98 ERA. He went 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA in 10 games for the Knights during the club's final season at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, SC in 2013. He made his Major League debut on August 22, 2013 at Kansas City and earned the win that night after inducing an inning-ending double play in the bottom of the 11th inning.

The Knights return home to BB&T Ballpark to open a three-game weekend series with the G-Braves on Friday. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night for the club's 7:05 p.m. contest against Gwinnett. After the game on Friday, the Knights will light up the sky with post-game fireworks, courtesy of BB&T and 107.9 The Link. Single-game tickets for all games this season are on sale now and can be purchased in person at BB&T Ballpark, online at charlotteknights.com, or by phone at 704-274-8282.
