Petersen Shuts the Door as Reign Blank Barracuda

STORYLINE:

Goaltender Cal Petersen made 23 saves for his second shutout of the season to guide the Ontario Reign over the San Jose Barracuda, 3-0, Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena. With the win, Ontario now has seven wins over their last nine games.

GAME TIMELINE:

- Reign push the pace in the first period, generating 10 shots on goal to the Barracuda's six. Reign rookie netminder Cal Petersen and Barracuda first-year keeper Parker Gahagen keep the contest scoreless.

- Both sides created scoring chances in the second period, with the posts playing a role this time around. Both the Reign and Barracuda rang the iron twice in the middle stand as the 0-0 score moved into the second intermission.

- Reign defenseman Stepan Falkovsky opened the scoring 1:57 into the third period slipping a rebound under Gahagen from defenseman Sean Walker and forward Andrew Crescenzi.

- Forward Brett Sutter added to the lead at 4:25 from forward Matt Luff.

- Forward Justin Auger completed the game scoring at 7:00 with help from forwards Mike Amadio and Michael Mersch.
