Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Ludvig Persson stopped all 24 shots faced Saturday as the Lone Star Brahmas shut out the Corpus Christi IceRays 2-0 at American Bank Center.
Matthew Rickard and Joey Baez scored for the NAHL-leading Brahmas (22-7-0-1, 45 pts.). Cal Sandquist made 25 saves for the IceRays (13-13-2-3, 31 pts.).
The game was the IceRays' annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Braselton Homes and Pest Patrol. With the IceRays not scoring in the game, fans tossed thousands of stuffed animals onto the ice at the conclusion of the game. The teddy bears will be donated to local children this holiday season through a variety of non-profit organizations.
Rickard opened the scoring with the eventual game-winning goal at 13:47 of the second period, sending in a shot from the left point.
Baez then recorded the only power play goal of the weekend for either team in a combined 21 opportunities over the two-game set, scoring on a stick-side shot at 3:55 of the third period. The goal was Baez's Brahmas-leading 16th of the season.
The IceRays now enter their first of four bye weekends this season and are back in action Dec. 20-21 at Shreveport with puck drop both nights set for 7:11 p.m. CT. IceRays games can be heard live on Sports Radio Corpus Christi 1230 AM-95.1 FM-96.1 FM (KSIX-AM/FM) and mixlr.com/icerays, and can be viewed on HockeyTV (HD iPPV).
The next home game is a 5:35 p.m. contest on New Year's Eve against the Mudbugs. Tickets for all 2019-20 IceRays games are on sale at the American Bank Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets.
