
Perez arrives from Tempe; Giovanatto assigned to Tempe

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that OF Julio Perez has been promoted to the Kernels from extended Spring Training in Tempe AZ and that OF Donato Giovanatto has been assigned to extended Spring Training.
Perez played 67 games for the Kernels last season, batting .216 with 2 HR and 14 RBI. He also played 35 games at Orem, batting .276 with 8 HR, 21 RBI and 4 stolen bases in 6 attempts.
Giovanatto played in nine games for the Kernels, batting .125 (3-24) with 4 RBI and a stolen base.
Perez is expected to be in uniform and available for tonight's game with the West Michigan Whitecaps at 6:30 pm.
With today's transaction, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with one player currently on the disabled list.
The Kernels open a three game series with West Michigan tonight at Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 6:30 pm.
