
Pensacola Extinguishes FireAntz 3-2

PENSACOLA, FL - T he Pensacola Ice Flyers played host to the Fayetteville FireAntz Friday night in the two teams' first meeting this season. The Ice Flyers came out of the game with a 3-2 win.
Mike MacIntyre opened the scoring 2:08 into the game with Justin Alonzo and Podge Turnbull picking up the assists. A little over eight minutes later, Fayetteville's Jeff Martens tied the game at one. Mike Kavanagh put the Antz up 2-1 with 1:45 left in the first.
Adam Pawlick tied the game up at two just 1:33 into the second period. The goal came on a power play with John Dunbar and Ryan Salvis getting the assists.
Turnbull broke the tie 3:51 into the third with an awesome shorthanded goal. Salvis stole the puck and passed to Turnbull who beautifully stickhandled in and beat Fayetteville's Brad Fogal.
Ross MacKinnon made 24 saves on the 26 shots he faced. Dunbar was named the third star, Salvis the second, and Turnbull the first.
These same two teams will face off again tomorrow night back in the Pensacola Bay Center for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.
