Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Cincinnati Reds) vs. Mobile BayBears (Arizona Diamondbacks)
Three to Watch on the Mobile BayBears:
RHP Archie Bradley
Archie Bradley is the top prospect in the Diamondbacks' system and the top pitching prospect in all of baseball. Bradley began his season in Triple-A Reno, but was sidelined in late April due to an elbow injury. The righty has made four starts with the BayBears since returning from injury at the end of June and posted a sub 2.00 ERA. In 2013, he was the Southern League Player of the Year and had a 12-5 record with a dazzling 1.97 ERA.
3B Jake Lamb
Jake Lamb has put up incredible numbers this season and he earned himself an All-Star spot over the first-half of the season. Lamb is first in the Southern League in RBI, total bases and doubles, and is top five in the Southern League in hits, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. He was originally drafted by the D-backs in the 6th round of the 2012 draft and he has turned into one of their top prospects. Lamb is hitting .355 with 3 HR and 13 RBI over 10 games against the Wahoos this season.
RHP Jimmie Sherfy
Jimmie Sherfy has struggled out of the bullpen this season for the BayBears, but is the Diamondback's 15th best prospect according to Baseball America. Sherfy was the closer for Oregon back in college and was selected in the 10th round of the 2013 draft after his junior season. The right-hander is only 5-10, but his funky delivery allows his fastball to sit around 95-96 mph.
Batting Practice: Beginning this homestand, fans will be allowed to watch batting practice prior to every Wahoos home game. This is a benefit that is currently complimentary for season ticket holders. Admission is $2 at the Hill-Kelly Dodge Pick Up Window and all proceeds will benefit local children's non-profits. Entrance is limited to fans with a ticket to that evening's game. Batting practice begins approximately three hours before the game's first pitch. Light concessions will be available for purchase.
What's Cookin': This homestand's culinary special is Arizona Chicken Tacos. Named for the BayBear's parent team, the tacos feature succulent pulled chicken, salsa and sour cream.
Under Armour Shirts: This homestand's featured merchandise at the Bait & Tackle team store is the Under Armour shirts for men and women. New to Minor League Baseball, the Under Armour tees are cool, comfortable and a great way for fans to show their Blue Wahoos pride and protect this house!
The Blue Wahoos and the Mobile BayBears will square off in the Bay-to-Bay Series. This will be the first stop of the series in Pensacola this year. The two teams play for the golden plate of oysters traveling trophy. The BayBears currently lead the season series seven-games-to-three.
