Pensacola 8th Too Much for Edinburg

It took 7 innings for Pensacola to get to the Roadrunners' pitcher. The bats came alive for the Pelicans in the bottom of the 8th, scoring six run on five hits to beat the Roadrunners 8-5.

Edinburg scored in the first inning on a couple walks and a base hit by Ryan Lehr. They would score another run in the 3rd inning to make the score 2-0. Pensacola would tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd. George Branch got hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and would later score by an Andy Wilson sacrifice fly-ball. Heath Kelly reached on an error and would later score by a Rafael Alvarez single through the right side. That made the score tied at 2-2.

Edinburg answered right back, scoring two in the 4th off a 2-run homerun by Eric Gonzalez. That made the score 4-2. Edinburg would ad one more in the 8th making the score 5-2.

Pensacola then batted 11 batters in the 8th inning scoring six runs on five hits and two walks. In the inning, Joe Espada had two hits and scored once and had two RBI. Alvarez, Larry Bethea, Carlos Mendoza, Jose Salas and George Branch also had hits in the inning.

Joe Goodman, who came on to pitch the 8th inning, suffered the loss giving up five runs on two hits on no outs.

Bubba Dobson got the win after pitching the 7th and 8th innings. He gave up two hits and one run. Charlie Griffin got his first save pitching a scoreless 9th inning.
