
Pelicans Split Double Header

Pensacola Pelicans News Release
Pensacola Pelicans couldn't start off the second half much better than they did tonight. In front of 1,537 fans, the Pelicans won the first game of the doubleheader in the bottom of the 7th, 6-3. With two on, two out and a full count on batter Larry Bethea, Bethea hits a game winning three run walk off homerun to end the game with the Pelicans on top 6-3.
Edinburg scored one run in the 1st and would have the lead until Pelicans half of the 5th inning. Heath Kelly hit a double down the left field line and then Andy Wilson traded places with Kelly who scored to make the score 1-1. Rafael Alvarez later doubled scoring Wilson to make the score 2-1.
Edinburg would answer back scoring two run in the 6th inning off an opposite field two run homerun by Pat O'Sullivan to take the lead back 3-2.
In the bottom of the 7th, Jose Salas walked to lead off the inning for the Pelicans who went to second off a sacrifice bunt by Heath Kelly. Joe Espada later singled followed by an Alvarez single, scoring Salas to tie the game. The next batter was Larry Bethea who hit a full count slider into the left field trees to make the final score 6-3.
Gerardo Casadiego was able to get the win and Steve Wilkerson blew the save for the Roadrunners.
Game two was all Edinburg winning 11-2. The Roadrunners pounded out 15 hits in the game. Pensacola could only muster five hits against Roadrunner's starter Ryan Harris. Harris got the win and Santos Hernandez suffered the loss who only threw 2/3 of an inning.
