Bradenton, FL - The Palm Beach Cardinals (9-4, 41-42) erased a five run deficit in the top of the ninth inning, scoring six runs before an out was recorded to stun Bradenton (9-4, 41-42) 9-8 at McKechnie Field on Tuesday night. Blake Drake's three-run home run off RHP Miguel Rosario (L, 1-1) capped the outburst and ended the Marauders' five-game winning streak.
1B Edwin Espinal had a standout night to help the Marauders build their 8-3 lead. He pounded a three- run homer to left in the first to cap a four-run inning, then added a two-run single in the seventh. He finished 3-for-5 at the plate.
RHP Tyler Eppler fired five strong innings, making it through five after a long first featuring two unearned runs. Eppler struck out four and did not walk a batter.
NOTES: The game began at 6:37 p.m. under overcast skies, 85 degrees, and wind blowing 4 mph in from right ... With the loss the South Division lead is now tied three ways among Bradenton, Palm Beach, and Fort Myers ...
Edwin Espinal's five RBIs represent the second highest total of his career; He drove in seven on 08/28/14 with West Virginia ...
