Juan Thomas went 3-3 with two homeruns and knocked in a season high seven runs as the Atlantic City Surf (24-20) defeated the Pennsylvania Road Warriors (11-31), 10-2, Monday night at the Sandcastle in front of 1775 fans. It was the second time Thomas had seven RBI's in a game this season.
Down 4-2 in the third, Juan Thomas blasted a two-run homer over the left field wall to give the Surf a 3-2 lead.
Raul Marval added a solo shot of his own in the fourth to put Atlantic City up by two runs.
Thomas struck again in the fifth with his second homerun of the game, a three-run bomb to left-center to put the Surf up 7-2.
Pennsylvania scored its two runs in the third on a solo homer off the bat of Omar Rosario and an RBI double by Dario Delgado to score Gary Johnson who reached on an error by Surf second baseman Marval.
The Surf added two more in the seventh when Pennsylvania reliever walked Tim Garland with the bases loaded to score Brandon Jackson followed by an RBI-single off the bat of Ric Johnson.
Atlantic City hurler Todd Etler had a solid outing to earn his second win in his second game with the Surf allowing two runs, one earned on four hits in seven innings of work while walking one and striking out eight.
Road Warriors starter Steve Gagliano lasted only four and one third innings giving up seven runs on nine hits to receive his ninth loss of the season.
Ric Johnson added three hits and three runs scored for Atlantic City while Marval went 4-4 with two runs scored.
