Adirondack Phantoms News Release

WILKES-BARRE, PA - Robert Nilsson scored two power-play goals to lift the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins past the Philadelphia Phantoms 3-2 on Saturday Night at Wachovia Arena in Wilkes-Barre. John Slaney scored for the Phantoms along with Kyle Greentree, who picked up his first professional goal in the contest. Phantoms winger Claude Giroux also registered an assist for his first professional point.

Slaney started the scoring on the power play at 8:31 of the first period. The puck came to him just to the inside of the right point and he blasted a slapshot that beat goaltender Jeff Deslauriers. The feed to Slaney came from Giroux, earning him his first professional point.

But Wilkes-Barre answered with two goals within three minutes of one another. The first came at 10:05, when Kurtis McLean scored off a setup from Matt Carkner. Then at 12:48, Nilsson posted his first of the night while on the man-advantage.

Nilsson's second turned out to be the game-winner, coming at 8:37 again on the power play. Just over a minute afterward, at 9:40, Greentree pulled the Phantoms back within a goal with his initial marker, which came as he crashed the net after a shot from the right-wing circle off the stick of Pete Zingoni. But the Phantoms could not crack Deslauriers again over the second half of the game.

Houle took the loss with 24 saves on 27 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton shots. Deslauriers earned the win by stopping 21 of 23 Phantoms chances.

The Phantoms return home to host the Norfolk Admirals on Friday, April 13 at 7:05. Individual tickets for all Phantoms games, including $8 tickets for children 14 and under anywhere in the building, are on sale now at phantomshockey.com or by calling 800-298-4200.
