Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - With the help of their fans, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins collected 1,414 stuffed animals for the Tobyhanna Army Depot during the team's 13th Annual Teddy Bear Toss.
The Teddy Bear Toss this year was held during two home games in December: Friday, December 2 versus the Portland Pirates and Saturday, December 17 against the Norfolk Admirals.
During the first intermission of each game, fans tossed stuffed toys onto the ice where they were collected by members of the Tobyhanna Army Depot. They will be distributed to less fortunate children throughout the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area as part of "Operation Santa Claus."
Over 15,000 teddy bears have been collected during the 13-year history of the event.
