
Pelss Signs with Oilers

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings are very proud to congratulate forward Kristians Pelss on his signing by the NHL's Edmonton Oilers. As announced today by Edmonton Oilers GM Steve Tambellini the speedy winger has signed a three-year entry level contract.
Pelss is a 19-year old Latvian born player in his sophomore season with the Oil Kings. He had a career season in 11-12 with 28 goals, 22 assists, five game winning goals and a plus-34 rating.
Pelss also has four goals and three assists in the 2012 WHL Playoffs to help guide the team to it's first WHL Eastern Conference banner in the modern era of the franchise.
Internationally, Pelss represented Team Latvia at the 2011 and 2012 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships and the 2010 IIHF World U18 Hockey Championship.
The Oilers selected Pelss in the 7th round, 181st overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Following that, the Oil Kings selected Pelss 19th overall in the 2010 CHL Import Draft.
Pelss and the Oil Kings will kick off the WHL Championship Series presented by Kal Tire and Husky this week. Games 1 and 2 in Edmonton will be played on Thursday, May 3rd and Friday, May 4th at Rexall Place. Both games start at 7:00 p.m. The series will shift to Portland, Oregon for games 3 and 4 on May 6th and 8th.
