Pensacola Pelicans News Release

The Pensacola Pelicans got their current six-game home stand, all against the El Paso Diablos, started with a victory, winning 5-4. Pensacola and El Paso battled back and fourth, but the Pelicans two-run 7th was enough to secure the win.

El Paso literally stepped off the bus, suited up and quickly scored two runs in the top of the 1st inning. Albenis Machado, Jorge Alvarez, and Juan Camacho all had singles in the inning.

Pensacola tied the game in the 2nd inning. Trino Aguilar reached by an error and was followed by a Bo Williams single. Bo Brown later drove in Aguilar and Cesar Aranguren singled in Williams. Aranguren finished the evening 2-3 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.

The Pels took the lead in the 5th inning, 3-2. Marcos Rodriguez drove in Chris Reynolds who singled.

In the Diablos next at-bat, they took the lead back by scoring two runs on hits by Camacho, Matt Kent and Jordan Belcher.

Pensacola again battled back and took the lead for good in the 7th inning. Aranguren led off the inning with a walk, moved to second on Reynolds' sac-bunt and took third base on a wild pitch. With the infield drawn in, Ricardo Cordova hit a lazy single over 3rd base, tying the game at 4. Cordova quickly stole second base and scored by a Napoleaon Calzado RBI sac-fly.

Todd Androsko got the win in a relief appearance of Colin Young. Carl Scheafer threw a scoreless inning and two-thirds to pick up his first save of the year.
