The Sioux City Explorers got great pitching all around to blank St. Joe and improve to 13-5 in the second half, overtaking St. Paul for first place in the North Division. Starter Brian Buchanan led the way, tossing seven innings and allowing four hits and two walks while striking out six. Brett Reid and Joel Schmal combined to pitch a perfect eighth and ninth to seal the win. Explorers RF Pete Pirman led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI. 3B Brandon Jones also had a good night for Sioux City. He was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one driven in.

Coastal Bend at Fort Worth (Postponed - Rain)

@ Fort Worth, TX.

The game between Coastal Bend and Fort Worth was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Tuesday July 24 in Fort Worth, TX beginning at 5:05 PM. Both games will consist of seven innings.

Lincoln 10, St. Paul 3

HR: LN-Bryan Warner (7) Lincoln made short work of St. Paul starting pitcher Jake Postlewait, scoring six runs on seven hits in the first inning, and never looking back, en route to an easy win at home. Lincoln starter Nathan Staggs got his first win of the year despite issuing five walks. He allowed two runs on two hits and struck out five in five innings. Saltdogs C Joe Dempsey led all hitters, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Lincoln DH Bryan Warner also had a big game, going 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI.

Pensacola 5, El Paso 4

The Pensacola Pelicans improved to 7-9 in the second half with a late rally at home against El Paso. Trailing 4-3 heading into the seventh inning, the Pelicans were able to plate two runs to take a lead that they wouldn't relinquish. Pelicans 3B Cesar Aranguren led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. The Pelicans earned the win despite being out-hit by El Paso 11-6. Diablos 3B Juan Camacho was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in the losing effort.

Sioux Falls 15, Shreveport 2

Matt Imwalle had a huge night in helping Sioux Falls rout Shreveport at home. Imwalle finished the game 3-for-5 with a home run, his 12th, two runs scored and six RBI. Canaries RF Scott Lydy also had a big night, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBI. Sioux Falls starter Kevin Cheppenko did not allow a run and didn't walk a batter in five innings of work. He scattered seven hits and struck out two to improve to 4-4 on the year.
