Fort Worth Cats News Release

Three Pensacola pitchers combined to limit the Cats to just three hits in a 3-1 victory over the Cats on Tuesday night at LaGrave Field.

It was the Cats' third straight loss and fifth straight at home to the Pelicans this season.

Pensacola scored in the first inning on an RBI groundout by Antoin Gray. The Cats would knot the game in the second on a solo homer by Ryan Patterson, his 12th of the year and second of the home stand.

The game remained 1-1 until the sixth inning. After a leadoff single, the Cats turned a 4-6-3 double play to erase the leadoff base runner, but the next batter Dallas Christison reached on an error to continue the inning. Catcher Lou Palmisano then reached on the second Cats' error of the inning, allowing Christison to score from first for a 2-1 Pelicans lead.

Pensacola would add a run in the eighth inning as with two outs Francisco Leandro singled home Jason Diaz.

Kieran Mattison, 5-3 on the season overall, picked up his first win in a Pelicans uniform as he allowed a run on three hits over six innings pitched. He gave way to the Pensacola bullpen in the seventh and the combination of Ron Hill and closer Hunter Davis retired the final nine hitters of the game in order. For Davis it was his 22nd save of the season.

Cats' starter Nat Harris pitched well, permitting just one earned run in seven innings of work, but took the loss to drop to 5-7. Harris allowed eight hits, struck out four and walked three.

The Pelicans had 12 hits in the game including three from right fielder Kevin Reynolds. They have out hit the Cats in the first two games of the series 28-7.

The Cats and Pelicans wrap up the three-game series with the Cats' final regular season home game on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. Joel Kirsten pitches for Fort Worth with Kevin Cooper going to the mound for Pensacola.
