Pensacola Pelicans News Release

(Montgomery, AL) --- The Pensacola Pelicans and the Montgomery Wings were rained out Tuesday night, the second time in three weeks a game has been lost at Patterson Field.

On July 3, the Pelicans were leading 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth before rains postponed play. But on Tuesday, it was the Wings who held a 2-0 lead before the game was called after three innings. The game was called after a 35-minute rain delay.

Lost in the game was Rusty Riley's two-run homer in the bottom of the first off unbeaten Pelican pitcher Jerry Dunn. Also wiped off the scorebooks were a single by Blair Bourque in the second inning and a double by Warren Rivell in the third inning.

The two teams play tonight at 7:05 in the series finale. From there, the Pelicans play three in Macon against the Peaches and three in Baton Rouge against the Riverbats before returning home for a nine-game homestand, starting July 30.
