
Pelicans lose early lead, fourth game in last five, 4-2

(Montgomery, AL) --- The Pensacola Pelicans left seven runners on base, including two in the sixth and seventh innings, as they fell to the Montgomery Wings 4-2 Wednesday. The Wings took both games of the originally scheduled three-game series, with Tuesday's game being rained out.
Pensacola took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-run homer by Buck Harrison. Jeremy Brostrom singled with two outs, extending his hitting streak to nine games.
Pensacola had three hits in the inning â Kevin Steele doubled, but was thrown out at third base in a double play â but had only four more the rest of the game. Michael Silva and Blair Bourque both had two hits in the loss, which trimmed the Pelicans' Southeastern League lead to six games. The two teams don't meet again until the final three games of the regular season August 11-13.
Steve Crampton (1-4) pitched seven innings, allowing eight hits. He walked four and struck out five.
Keith Sills' two-run single in the fifth inning gave the Wings the lead for good.
The game lasted two hours, 16 minutes, the shortest nine-inning game for the Pelicans this season.
The Pelicans now travel to Macon tonight for the first of three with the Macon Peaches. The game starts at 6:05 local time, meaning the game will be joined in progress by WCOA, AM 1370, at 7 p.m.
